Coming Events

Next meeting will be Monday 2 March, 7pm to 8:45pm

Unley Uniting Church, 187 Unley Road, Unley

– Access from Edmund Street –

Unley Allies has grown and changed over time, particularly through the development of relationships with First Nations people. As noted in our recent newsletter, a key challenge we face is the tension between the need to go faster with some activities and the need to go slower with others!

Our March meeting will be a participatory workshop, where we are devoting the entire meeting to the workshop.

This workshop will focus on shaping a structure that can support our purpose, relationships, and actions in the next stage of our journey together. It is the next step in our planning … in shaping who we are and how we support all our members in becoming stronger allies, individually and collectively.  We will not be making final decisions at this workshop on how we will move forward, rather collecting ideas and responses to our thinking so far … to help inform our next stage of discussions and planning.

We look forward to your participation and contribution.

This workshop is being held at our customary meeting time.

Sophia Centre, 225 Cross Rd, Cumberland Park

Facilitators: Joan Boylan and Sue Hetzel

There will be a maximum group size to ensure all can participate. Copy of Layla’s book ‘Me and White Supremacy required (some loan copies available).

Cost: $5 per session, plus purchase of the book.

Join Māori earth-systems scientist Associate Professor Dan Hikuroa and Australian environmental historian Dr Joy McCann, recipient of the 2026 National Library of Australia Fellowship, in conversation with adventurer and environmental scientist Tim Jarvis AM, as they explore how Indigenous knowledge, history and science can help us reimagine our relationship with the natural world.

From rivers recognised as living entities to the wild, shifting currents of the Southern Ocean, the discussion will explore how stories, science and spirit shape our understanding of place  – and our responsibilities to it.
